Socrates Organism (2021)
Durational sculpture, in which oyster mushrooms grow within and eventually consume a 3D printed mold. Photographed on the 1st day and 30th day of its growth cycle.
The mold utilizes a 3D scan of a bust from the British Museum, created by Daniel Prett, and shared under a CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license. This model has been edited in Rhino using a custom Grasshopper script to uniformly create holes in the surface and prepare the model for 3d printing.
